Let's give Thanks to the Goddess!

131. Om santimatyai namah: I bow down to Amma who is peaceful

"Peacefulness is Devi's nature. She forgives every fault of Her devotees, with no agitation and with abundant kindness. Devi's ultimate aim is the peace and welfare of the universe. She will not tolerate anything which hurts that cause. That is why She appeared to be cruel towards Bhandasura."
(The Thousand names of the Divine Mother: T.V Narayana Menon)

So many times in life, we realize we chase moving targets. The very young only want to enjoy life to the fullest. They take life a minute at a time (which possibly accounts for the innocence and happiness of childhood). In our 20s, we chase wild and seemingly impossible dreams. In our 30s, we look for wealth. In our 40s, for wealth and health. And so on and so forth. But when we are on a solid spiritual path, all we seek, is peace. Peace that only a learned master like Amma can bring to us. It is only the spiritual guidance of Amma that gives us such a high level of divine awakening that even practices like meditation begin to rapidly open us to the realm of high understanding. Amma is the perfect conduit for us in this journey. Wouldn't She be? How incredibly lucky we are!!! Amma is the journey AND the destination. Peace is the way. Peace is the final stop. And everything in between. Who wouldn't want a life like that??

On this occasion surrounding thanksgiving, let us give Thanks to the Goddess who has graced our lives by taking birth in this period. By allowing all of us to be a part of Her life. She completes us. She is the perfect rhythm to this beat of life. She is the breeze that we encounter as we step out of our house. That loving, caressing breeze that tells us, nature will surely look after us. She is the peaceful murmur of the ocean's waves that lulls us into a safe cocoon of nature's beauty. She is the quiet scent that each flower gives us as we tread softly by. She is everywhere. She is everything. She is omnipresent. My mother, thank you for being there for me. For us. For making everything so perfect for us. For pulling us out of the deepest and darkest of times; for hauling us up and lovingly holding us in Her arms, whispering "I am always there for you". I know You are Amma. I feel Your presence everywhere. And I cannot express my gratitude in words. Someday, I hope I will be worthy of everything You have lavished me with.
Thank You.

Om Amriteswariye namah!
