129. Om sarac-candra-nibhananayai namah: I bow down to Amma whose face shines like the full moon in the clear autumn sky
When the path gets tough, true friends stand out. They shine out through the quagmire around us. And Amma is the one who identifies them for us. From the sea of people who surround us, only a few will stand by us in time of need. But the only one we are always sure about, is Amma. Today a friend wrote to me from thousands of miles away. She asked Amma "if She was hearing prayers and conversations with Her from thousands of miles away." Amma gave her a stern look and said She was, and how could we even think otherwise.
During times of need, Amma is the only constant. Actually, at every time, Amma is the only reality. And that is where we need to unburden all our problems. I remember a story about Lord Shiva. Every time a devotee would call out to Shiva, Shiva would run but return very quickly. When questioned, Lord Shiva said that He was running to calls from His devotee but the minute they began unburdening to others, Lord Shiva realized He wasn't needed and returned. So if we are undergoing any trouble, Amma is the only one we should unburden to. All our friends or acquaintances will take away what they want from our situation. Judgements will be thrown our way. But Amma never judges. She accepts us with all our flaws. She won't chastise saying "why did you do that?" She will accept us, embrace us and protect us.
I was lucky today to meet Purnaswamiji today. And receive his blessings. And Swamiji gave me very good advice. And with his blessings, he said that Amma would always protect me. But that's true of all of us. Just as we protect our children, so also Amma will always protect us. It is by Her feet that we need to rest and repose. Because that is where we will find our true spiritual path. At the feet of Amma whose face shines with love, understanding, compassion. I surrender everything to You, Amma. Forever.
