101. Om manipurantar uditayai namah: I bow down to Amma who emerges in the Manipura chakra
The manipura chakra is located in the solar plexus, navel and digestive area. It's the chakra that deals with digestion, metabolism, the power of transformation and warmth. It's where the fire lies. When Amma emerges in the Manipura chakra, that is when all the wonderful transformations happen. She exudes warmth. Enough to blanket the earth with unending love. She creates the fire of transformation in everyone. This is where She puts us through the fire and allows us to emerge stronger, wiser and more resilient. This is where every experience adds to the purity of our spirituality.
I find spirituality such an endearing word. It's so much friendlier than Religion, which to me is a double headed monster. But spirituality is finding yourself; connecting with the Goddess who dwells within. Amma to me isn't a religious teacher; She's a spiritual Guide. She's there to hold our hands and gently guide us through life whilst performing our basic duties of understanding why we are here and fulfilling a role of serving out compassion and kindness. This, in essence, is our core objective. And it is the only way we can lead joyful lives. How banal if all we have done with our lives is live it on the outside. How unfortunate if we haven't even discovered this great strength that spirituality brings form within. But not all our lives are perfect. We flounder. We forget. We question. Which is possibly why our journey with Amma will always be a test of faith. We aren't evolved enough to pass this trial by fire. So we need to surrender totally to Amma so that every test of faith requires us to lie down by Amma's feet and tell Her: "Whatever it is, it will only be for my good."
Wouldn't our creator only want the best for us? Can it be any other way with our Mother?
