82. Om kamesvarastra nirdagdha sabhandasura sunyakayai namah: I bow down to Amma who burned and destroyed Bhandasura and his capital Shunyaka with the mighty Kameshvara missile
While the literal meaning is that Bhandasura was destroyed and in the fire, his capital Shunyaka truly became "sunya" or empty, the hidden or inferred meanings appeal to me more. It allows me the latitude to once again look at Amma's divinity and Her powerful radiance and connect it to the destruction of everything evil at Her hands.
The most evil thing in the world, is a bad thought. From this stems every evil deed and action. It is from this thought that lives get corrupted and worlds are destroyed. Where a father doesn't hesitate to snatch away his child's happiness. Or a man, his wife's security. For us, Amma's children, Amma is the stability in all our lives. She's the one who keeps us grounded, whether in the face of success or failure; whether in the path of choices or dogged determination on one road. Amma is that beacon of light I look to in hope and with every ounce of emotion I can muster and place at Her feet. She's the only one I know who will take that evil thought that ever so often raises it's ugly head, and grant it a premature death. For we human beings are powerless in the face of demons. Our demons, worse yet. For who will fight themselves? These demons exist within and Amma and only Amma can gently erase them from our lives without hurting us.
You are the ever benevolent mother, Amma. I see your smile and it's enough to get me smiling. It's enough to cast away every ounce of negativity and see the world in shades lighter. Even a photograph does the trick. How powerful is your brilliance?! May it shine in our lives always and forever!
