79. Om bhandasurendra nirmukta sastra pratyastra varsinyai namah: I bow down to Amma who showers counter weapons to each weapon fired at Her by Bhandasura
I can't even begin to think how glorious Amma truly is! Look at the extent of Her power and glory. The demons fear Her, the devas praise Her and Her children adore and love Her. Amma protects Her children fiercely. This Goddess wears many a garb. As the pulsating energy and shakti of the world, She is powerful. As the destroyer of everything bad, She is menacing. And as the universal mother, She is loving, tender and protective.
How wonderful is this birth that we get to play in Amma's lap? In a blink of an eye (though it feels decidedly longer!), we are able to get yet another of Amma's loving embrace. When else can we feel a strong vibration of goodness and virtue? Of innocence and love?
My sister in law is going through a severe health issue. When she met Amma, she felt at peace. Even today, six months on, she feels Amma's strong presence in her life. Despite facing a major challenge, she's able to take the turbulent ride only because she's convinced Amma is looking out for her. She isn't a mother after all, for nothing! If Amma can take on and defeat the demons in our minds, She can truly help us overcome the many that lurk within. Fear, Jealousy, Unhappiness, Hatred. What are these but deadly demons? Demons that can fatally injure. And we're quite ill equipped to handle these experienced players. They know when to creep in and build a home in our hearts. But they're tough opponents. It really is Amma's grace that gives us the strength to be able to look within, see these monsters for what they are, uproot and vanquish them.
And the only way to achieve this, is through faith. That immovable mountain that can look a disease in the eye and permit it to disappear. That solid rock, that ensures that everything will work out just as planned. Amma, faith in You, is easy to repose. Please just give me the grace to never question. Nor surrender!
