463. Om suranayikayai namah: I bow down to Amma who is the leader of the gods
I have often heard this whole debate of 'human god' versus a God up there in the heavens somewhere. Most often, people look down upon those who worship a human God. For me, Amma is a Mother who is always watching over me. And I'm lucky in that She represents all the virtues of the universe. I'm fortunate that one day Amma decided that I would be Her devotee. I am happy that my Guru is beautiful, kind, compassionate, caring and totally non judgmental. She also has the superhuman ability to give darshan continuously for more than a day. She's the very reflection of love. She has no ego: just purity of form. She is ever ready to take me in Her arms and assure me that She loves me. She is always there to listen to me when I call out to Her. And I do, ever so often. I am lucky to be part of a growing population of devotees who want to lead a spiritually richer life only because they are now Amma's children. She has touched the lives of millions and made us more spiritually aware. She makes us want to be better people.
If She isn't God, then who is? If I shouldn't follow and pray to this 'human' God, who should I pray to? She is the answer to every prayer of ours. She is my Goddess, my Guru, my Mother!
Om Amriteswariye namah!
