Amma, the remover of obstacles!

451. Om vighna-nasinyai namah: I bow down to Amma who destroys all obstacles

This right here is the crux of spirituality. "Dear God, please remove all the obstacles in our path. Please take away all those unexpected boulders that come tumbling down our path." This is pretty much the prayer each of us mouths virtually every day. The fear of the unexpected; the unknown. And our fervent prayer to God to remove it all so that everything goes smoothly. We are also taught that obstacles come for a reason. Sometimes, that reason is obvious. Sometimes, we have to look very deeply to make some sense out of all this. What can the possible motive be? Why are we going through such a testing period? Why would God, whose children we are, put us through such trying times? Maybe it is God's way of allowing us an insight into our own faith. Because faith is a feeling that cannot be measured and yet it has the capacity to move mountains. Obstacles are probably faith's richter scale to measure the immeasurable. Please Amma, give us ample amounts of faith and when You test us, do it gently. We don't have the strength to go through much. Allow us to break through these obstacles very, very gently. And as we walk, whatever happens, make us realise that You are always holding our hands.

Om Amriteswariye namah!
