149. Om nitya-buddhayai namah: I bow down to Amma who is ever wise
She only studied till grade 4 or 5. And yet the knowledge and wisdom Amma has isn't something gathered from mere books. Her wisdom is that which can be found in the scriptures, which yet again is the knowledge distilled over centuries. The halo surrounding Amma is brimming with spiritual acumen. Amma sees what the ordinary eye cannot even fathom. Amma knows what the mind can never perceive. Amma feels what even the minutest of fluctuations cannot emit. My ever wise Amma is the fount of wisdom because She is the Universal Truth. Everything arises from Her. The Sun rises because Amma wills it to. My life path may take a certain turn because Amma has decided that is the road I need to walk to become a better person; a more spiritually evolved person.
Amma's wisdom knows no boundaries. It cannot be contained within the crisp pages of books. We stand in a line, men, women, young, old, Indian, American, Australian, Japanese. Disabled. Mentally fraught. Each of us has walked our own route with different experiences and different life lessons. And yet, Amma has answered the questions that millions have brought to Her doorstep. Be it questions about marriage, school, work, relationships, health, wealth...Amma knows the simplest and most effective answer to each of our questions. Because She lives in a very simple sphere of life, Her answers reflect that simplicity. And yet, they come not from such a simple realm but from a deep understanding of life. She has seen pain and suffering as much as She has seen joy and wealth. And this is an invaluable fountain She drinks from. Amma's wisdom isn't bookish. She teaches from lessons She has seen for Herself. And thus us able to shape us well for what lies ahead.
Thank you Amma for being You. For helping me on this journey of life. I know I ask numerous questions of You. I also know that when You embrace me and give me an answer, You are not just providing me an answer. You are making me privy to Your vast wisdom. And to that, I am eternally grateful!
