522. Om sukla-varnayai namah: I bow down to Amma who is
white
I had a quick lesson in faith from my mother. I was
wondering about the efficacy of a medicine and whether it had been tested or
not and whether it was safe to consume. At which point my mother looked at me
and very simply said, “Then you can’t live in this world if you question
everything.”
What she hadn’t elaborated on and said was that we need to
get by with a certain amount of faith reposed in everything around us. Faith in
that medicine. In a doctor. In Amma. In knowing that the world has us well
within it’s arms and will take care of us. That when the earth spins, we are a
part of that rotation. That everything happens because there is a greater
design to it all. Like when Amma created the many little miracles in my life
that I could never have fathomed for myself. Even if I should look at the lifes
of my friends and see the twists and turns there, Amma’s loving hand has such a
strong presence. She’s seen it all for us. Amma can see the bigger picture and
know the path like only a caring and loving mother can. And it is only to our
advantage that we happily sit in the seat of faith and allow Amma to steer the
car of life for us.
Om Amriteswariye namah!
