714. Om kulotirrnayai namah: I bow down to Amma who transcends senses
Just attended a pretty awesome Saraswati Puja conducted by Swamiji. It was simple and effective. The children did it wholeheartedly as did the adults. And Swamiji explained the concept of praying to the Goddess Saraswati so well. Traditionally meant only for students, Swamiji said that in actuality we should always remain child-like, whatever our age. That purity, that innocence, the feeling that we are always beginners is what will erase the ego. Amma is 100% pure and so we find in Amma every virtue that is attributed to the Gods. During navratri, the first three days are dedicated to Goddess Durga to whom we pray for purity. Once purity is granted, we pray for the next three days to Goddess Lakshmi who then rewards us with abundance. And when we are thus satisfied, comes the turn of Goddess Saraswati who bestows knowledge on us. As Swamiji reminded us once again, we are all intelligent beings but lack the understanding of how best to use our intellect.
May we always have the intelligence to use our intellect well and work towards becoming purer beings.
