21. Om kadamba manjari klrpta karnapura manoharayai namah: I bow down to Amma who is captivating, wearing bunches of kadamba flowers as ear ornaments
She captivates all of nature with her beauty and divinity. Even nature bows down to the creator in humility. For nature, more than us, knows the true value of creation. A dew drop cannot glisten on a blade of grass without Amma's grace. An oak sapling can't break through the seed without Amma's benevolence. So what use is the sweet fragrance of a Kadamba flower if it can't adorn Amma's ears?
With the same measure, Amma has captivated our hearts. And we should hope to be as pure as the many hues of nature, for a chance to be part of Amma's palette. It is from this palette that Amma paints the world in the most divine colours. Should I be the red and orange of the Kadamba flower? Or the yellow and white of the campaka flower? What flower, what color will please my all seeing, Jagad janani the most? What will ensure that I can be used for padapuja, when I can also lie gently on Her feet and enjoy a lifetime of bliss right there!
Dear Amma, my compassionate, ever loving Amma: If you were a flower, compassion would be a new fragrance.
Om Amriteswariye namah!
This mantra had me at "captivating". It doesn't matter if Amma is adorned with campaka or kadamba flowers. For me, the very essence is that She is captivating. That these flowers are blessed to adorn Her. That even a stray, forgotten rose petal finds it's special place on Amma's saree, nestling quietly, like a naughty child enjoying a few extra moments with the Mother.
