Resplendent like rubies!

14. Om kuruvinda mani sreni kanat kotira manditayai namah: I bow down to Amma who is resplendent with a crown adorned with rows of kuruvinda gems

It's Friendship Day. Now most such days are just a way of selling inane bracelets and cards. But to me it's my day to pay obeisance to my bestest friend in the whole world: AMMA!  I'm a lucky girl. Who has the divine Herself for a friend? Who has the world's most resplendent form for a mother and a best friend? Me!

She's the friend who listens, who lends a shoulder for me to cry on and who makes my ouchies go away. She, the Goddess whose very form shines with an overwhelming brilliance of red, as She sits on Her throne, adorned by a crown of red rubies. Everything red. Everything signifying courage, vitality, energy. And devotion. And Amma in Her resplendent form looks after me and gives me the opportunity to be a little bit nicer, a little bit more selfless and a little bit more compassionate, one day at a time.

Thank you Amma for being so enormously divine and gorgeously beautiful and yet be a mother and a friend to an insignificant someone like me. I hope I can shine with virtues, like the rubies on your crown, one day.

Om Amriteswariye Namah!
