41. Om indra gopa pariksipta smara tunabha janghikayai namah: I bow down to Amma whose calves gleam like the jewel covered quiver of the God of love
The quiver of the God of love is exactly what Amma's hugs should be called. For She is the God of love and loving is Her way. Amma has many paths, all of which She treads only to make us happier and better. I read this heartwarming story of a mother whose first impression of seeing devotees around Amma, was that this was mass hypnosis! And the first thought that struck me, was yes!! Why not?? It is mass hypnosis. When Amma enters a hall, every one sitting, standing, waiting, is mesmerized by the presence of this little, awesome woman from Kerala. When Amma raises Her hand in a namaste, every one holds their breath and does the same. When Amma settles down, everyone feels a sense of calm. When Amma sings, every one rejoices. And when Amma begins to give darshan, there's a mad scramble. Some run to get into line; others with a token that promises a darshan further down the night go grab a dinner. But nobody leaves. There's a buzz all around the room. People walk about the counters looking at possible things they can buy- anything that'll remind them of Amma for another 364 days. Mass hypnosis? Most certainly! How can we not be hypnotized when the God of love Herself is reaching out and hugging us? When She Herself is there to make a sankalpa and help us move ahead? Isn't it beautiful that we are blessed by the highest power Herself? Not as an idol or a photograph but in person?
And what's more: She has a quiver. When She launches it, it can even reach us long distance. Because from Her, we're never, ever far away!
Om Amriteswariye namah!
