On the sands of time...!

43. Om kurma prstha jayisnu prapadanvitayai namah: I bow down to Amma whose feet have arches that rival the back of a tortoise in smoothness and beauty

I was inundated with the sweetest messages from Michael and Bindu, my spiritual siblings today. They convinced me I would have Amma's permission and blessings to do a pada puja. Soon, very soon!
Just the thought is enough to make me happy. I have already waited a lifetime. Every time someone does pada puja for Amma, I have looked on with a touch of jealousy. Every time Amma walks by, I keep telling myself: "Just bend down and touch Her feet!" But I know it's forbidden and thus the fruit just seems sweeter!

But once, a few years ago, after the Singapore programme, Amma visited the ashram. And after a puja there, Bindu excitedly gave me milk. I have no recollection whether the milk was actually used for pada puja but that's what I convinced myself...and drank heartily! Yet another time, Bindu and I kissed a slipper thinking it to be Amma's! It wasn't. To this day I have no idea whose it was. But the best part is that it still feels like I kissed Amma's feet!

Amma's beautiful feet. Like everything else about Her, they're divine. She has walked the ends of this earth drying tears, consoling people and sprinkling joy into our lives. She's walked in different continents and brought us together through Her motherhood. She selflessly does all She can to ensure that our lives become more spiritual, more joyful and more egoless. She's taught us to laugh without ego and cry without pain. With no rest, She has traversed paths to ensure that we are led to deliverance. She's truly left indelible footprints on the spiritual sands of time. My gorgeously beautiful mother, your feet are now the focus of my meditation. Please allow me the blessing of washing them with milk, honey, sacred ash and rose water. And as I dry them repeatedly for tears may wash over them again, may I only have the most beautiful mantra on my lips: Om Amriteswariye namah!
