705. Om sastramayyai namah: I bow down to Amma who is in the form of the scriptures, to Her whose limbs are the Scriptures
Every word of Amma's is the ultimate truth:
"When you surrender to a higher consciousness, you give up all your claims; you release your grip from everything that you’ve been holding on to. Whether you gain or lose, it doesn’t matter now. You don’t want to be something any longer. You long to be nothing, absolutely nothing. So you dive into the River of Existence. The ego, or the mind, is that which makes you feel that you are something. Unless it is eliminated, you cannot dive deep into your own consciousness. You have to become nothing. Not even a trace of, ‘I am something’ should remain. If you are something, there is no entry into the realm of pure Consciousness."
And my absolute favourite:
"Life should become one big, hearty laugh—that’s religion. That’s spirituality. That is real prayer. God is the innocent smile that blossoms from within. It is also the best gift one can bestow on the world. However, this smile is alien to the world today, familiar only with smiles of selfishness, rancor and artificiality. Those aren’t smiles, only the stretching of one’s lips, because the heart is not in them. It is a sin, violence, a betrayal of one’s soul. We must recover the child’s world of innocent play and laughter. There is a child’s heart lying dormant within each one of us. Without awakening it, we cannot grow. "
